Outward Bound® Adventure

Water rafting for teens and adults

Next Event: TBD

C.O.P.S. Outward Bound Adventure

C.O.P.S. Outward Bound® Adventure is planned for teenagers and young adults (ages 15-20) who are children of law enforcement officers who died in the line of duty, as determined by C.O.P.S. criteria.

Outward Bound® is an adventure-based program designed to inspire character development, self-discovery, compassion for others, and to actively engage in creating a better world.  The goal of this C.O.P.S. program is to challenge surviving children to overcome the obstacles and use the principles they learn in their daily lives after losing their parent to a line-of-duty death.

Outward Bound® will give participants the opportunity to recognize and navigate various river obstacles, work as a team with other surviving children, and feel the exhilaration of rushing rapids.

We hope that by attending Outward Bound® Adventure surviving children can make friendships with peers who can truly understand what they are going through.

This year, Outward Bound® Adventure is a water rafting trip taking place on the Yampa River through the Dinosaur National Monument in Dinosaur, Colorado. The Yampa River is a symbol of wild rivers around the world, it runs free and wild without dams, highways, railroads or other manmade creations. Outward Bound® will give participants the opportunity to recognize and navigate various river obstacles, work as a team with other surviving children, and feel the exhilaration of the rushing rapids.

We hope that by attending Outward Bound® Adventure surviving children will get a chance to relax in a comfortable setting that is removed from their everyday life, where they can make everlasting friendships with peers who can truly understand what they are going through.
